LIVING IN A SICK WORLD

As the old saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”

Upper most in our minds today is the H1N1 Virus and how to protect ourselves and our families.  One of the first and most important things that we hear over and over again is, “Wash Your Hands”.  If you feel like you have a phobia, that’s all right, it’s the best thing you can do and teach your children to do in order to be safe.

With something as widespread as H1N1, you will come in contact with someone who has the virus, but that’s not the problem.  The problem is how to keep H1N1 from taking hold in your system.  There’s only 2 ways to enter the body and that is through the nose or mouth.  Keep your hands away from your face as much as possible.

It takes 2 or 3 days for H1N1 to grow in your nose or throat. Clean your nose, once a day, with something like tea tree oil.  Drop some tea tree oil on a swab and thoroughly cleanse your nostrils.  Twice a day you should gargle with a good mouthwash or with saltwater and drink lots of liquids.  H1N1 cannot survive in the stomach.

More and more studies are showing that vitamin D is an excellent source to beef up your immune system.  Your doctor can give you a prescription dose of vitamin D but you can find high concentration capsules on the shelf in many stores.  You can also get herbal supplements in capsule form, formulated to boost your immune systemI can help you find those.

Remember, a well nourished body can fight off a myriad of disease and a well nourished mind and spirit makes a strong body.  It's all a balancing act.
